Authorities ordered to stop Internet Telephone Service Viber and Tango in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued the order to the mobile phone operators.
There they have been ordered to keep Viber and Tango stop from Sunday midnight till Sunday 6pm.
Grameen Phone said in a statement on their website that, they received instruction from Telephone Regulatory Commission at twelve o’clock night. There they said to stop Viber and Tango for security reasons.
Grameen Phone stopped the service from 8.45am. They said customers can’t use the Viber and Tango service till today evening. Grameen Phone has apologized to the customers for this.
Note that, people can call home and abroad free by using Viber and Tango apps. To avoid the security of government security forces workers of opposition parties of Bangladesh uses these services.
A leader of the opposition party BNP said that, they are facing many problems communicating with the workers of the party after stopping Viber service; because, the service was used by them to communicate with each other.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has not given any statement yet regarding this.
