China Radio International Bangla

China Radio International (CRI) is the government-owned radio station of China. It’s headquarter is located in Babaoshan. It promotes understanding and friendship between the people of China and people throughout the world with 30 overseas bureaus. China Radio International has broadcasts 1,520 hours of programs each day all over the world in 61 languages, covering a global population of nearly 3 billion. China Radio International Bangla service broadcasts programs in the Bengali Language.

China Radio International started broadcasting in 3rd December 1941. In the beginning, it only featured a daily 12 minutes program in the Japanese Language. In that time, its name was Yan Aung Sin Hua Radio. The English Service started at Shahe Village in the Taihang Mountains on 11th September 1947. When the People's Republic was founded in 1949, we moved from the Taihang Mountains to Peking (Now Beijing), capital of the new China in 25th March 1949. In that time, its name changed to Peking Xinhua Radio. Radio Peking had been on the air till 1983 when the name was changed into Radio Beijing. On January 1, 1993, the name of the station was again changed, this time to China Radio International in order to avoid any confusion with local Beijing radio broadcasting.

China Radio International started to broadcast programs in the Bengali Language from 1st January 1969. In that time’s Hindi Department’s Head Madam Li L Jun worked for the Bengali Department too. From the beginning of its broadcasting to 1973, China Radio International Bangla Department’s director was Fan Fu Kuo. Till now, 6 people had been worked as a Director for it. Currently, 19 people are working for China Radio International Bangla Department, among two are Bengali. China Radio International Bangla’s programs include news, current affairs, and features on politics, the economy, culture, science, and technology.
