The Dhaka Medical College and Hospital grew to become almost paralyzed again on Sunday as interns and honorary doctors continued an abrupt work abstention in the hospital irritating sufferings of patients.

Medical services in an emergency and outpatient departments in the hospital continued to be almost suspended for the whole day due to the work abstention.

The interns and honorary doctors continued the work abstention around midnights-past Saturday as well as on Sunday mid-day they said they would continue the job abstention for 48 more hours demanding the arrest of those who assaulted honorary doctors at Chankharpool on Saturday night.

Local and also the police said the trouble started on Saturday night when six honorary doctors were passed at Chankharpool en route to a healthcare facility after getting dinner.

Surgery department honorary physician Mominul Islam was severely beaten there and then accepted towards the intensive care unit from the hospital.

Protesting in the incident, interns and honorary doctors presented a procession within the hospital’s casualty department and secured the emergency department early Sunday.

The interns and honorary doctors said on Sunday mid-day their work abstention would continue until Tuesday mid-day, plus they were likely to enforce the strike of interns and honorary doctors whatsoever medical college hospitals across the nation.

‘We have known as our guys at other medical college hospitals over social networking and cell phone to enforce the strike in their institutions,’ honorary medical officer Fazle Bari told.

‘We are attempting to enforce a countrywide strike to protest against frequent attacks on doctors at different hospitals through the patients, attendances, college students yet others,’ Fazle said.

The protesting interns and honorary doctors also were built with an ending up in health service's director general Deen Muhammad Nurul Haque, Bangladesh Medical Association secretary general Iqbal Arslan, Dhaka Medical College Hospital director Mustafizur Rahman yet others on Sunday.

Fazle Bari alleged that some students of Shahidullah Hall from the Dhaka College assaulted the honorary doctors on Saturday night inside a planned way.

Later, the hospital’s ward master Zillur Rahman filed a situation with Shahbagh police station against Shahidullah Hall unit Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Miraz and 10-12 unnamed people, said Shahbagh police sub-inspector, Abu Zafar.

The interns and honorary doctors did not join the work; they do following the incident putting patients in severe crisis.

Patients who rushed to the emergency department in the hospital experienced totally because the entrances were locked.

Sarwar Hossain rushed his wife, who had been struggling with the work discomfort, towards the hospital from Amin Bazar at approximately 11:30 am. He needed to visit another hospital, as the lady was refused entrance towards the hospital’s emergency department.

‘What is our fault, why the doctors deny us of treatment?’ he asked.

When contacted by journalists, a healthcare facility director rejected discusses the problem.

Bangladesh Medical Association secretary general Iqbal Arslan, however, said they asked the doctors to carry on with all of the medical services and created an urgent situation squad to supply critical patients with urgent remedies.

Shahbagh police arrested six teenagers, family and friends of the patient, in the hospital on control of slapping an Ansar guy at night.

The six youth said that they were Dhaka College students. Law enforcement, however, said the claim was false.

Based on the hospital authority, around 1,000 patients visited the outpatient department contributing to 50-60 patients rushed towards the emergency department on Sunday upon an average 5,000 patients visited the outpatient department, and 800 visited the emergency department every single day.

Previously, May 6, honorary doctors and interns in the hospital continued work abstention for around five hours following clashes with Dhaka College students.

It interns and doctors in private and public hospitals have been on strike not less than 15 days previously three several weeks, departing patients to suffer.

Doctors have enforced strikes in most hospitals and treatment centers in Rajshahi for two days, in BIRDEM hospital for two days, in Rangpur Medical College Hospital for three days, in Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, in Barisal for two days as well as in Dhaka National, Medical College for two days since Feb.
