The Myanmar border Security forces BGP handed over the dead body of Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB member Mizanur Rahman. The body was handed over on Saturday evening after identification.
He was killed by the Border Guard, Police, BGP members in the Naikhongchori area of Bangladesh – Myanmar border on Wednesday.
BGB Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed said, confirming the transfer of the body, “after handing over the body the border prevails calm. On 3rd June, Flag meeting will be held between the two country’s border security forces. And on 10th June, Director level meeting of BGB - BGP will be held in Myanmar.
On Saturday evening, BGB sat on a Meeting with the Myanmar border security forces BGP at 52 number pillars of Naikhongchori about handing over the body. Though it was decided that they will give the body before noon. However, for not doing, they met in the afternoon. BGP agreed to return the body in the meeting.
Earlier Saturday morning Myanmar’s ambassador Mew Mint than was called to the state guest house the Padma and showed the protest against it. And given demand to stop to open fire on the border and return the body of the BGB member. Earlier on Thursday, Friday and he was summoned twice.
Tensions in the border
On Friday at Naikhongchori border of a Bandarban Myanmar border security forces fired indiscriminately on BGB. In response, BGB counter fired on them. From 2.30pm firing from both sides ran almost two and a half hours. Local sources said; the same sort of thing happened on Saturday. From Naikhongchori border, 200 people have been evacuated since Saturday morning after the firing on Wednesday.
BGB sources said; patrol has been extended into the border. BGB has been made assuming the report of the Military conference in Arakan State. Cox’s Bazar 17 BGB’s captains, Lt Col Saiful Alam Khandaker, said, “We got the news of suppressing the rebels of Arakan state by the name of the military conference. BGB has been prepared in the Bangladeshi border. We increased BGB’s extra patrols.”
The beginning of the incident
This tension between the two country’s border security forces started two days back. At the time of BGB member’s patrolling in the bordering Rohingya camps, Myanmar border security personnel stated open firing without any reason on Wednesday morning.
