The daily Jaijaidin is a Bengali Newspaper publishes from Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is owned by Jaijaidin Publication Limited. It was first published in the late 80s as a weekly. It emerged as a daily tabloid in 1999. Though, it was failed to gain popularity, which led it to become like a weekly in a short time. It again started publishing as a daily in 2006. Shafik Rehman is its founder editor.
As a weekly, The Jaijaidin gained nationwide popularity during the late 80s due to its modern outlook and strong opposition against the military regime of Lieutenant General Hossain Mohammad Ershad. At one point it was banned by the military government and its editor Shafik Rahman arrested. He was released after democracy was restored in 1991 and started publishing Jaijaidin again. Shafik Rehman lost the editorship of Jaijaidin in 2008. Kazi Rukanuddin Ahmed is now the acting editor and Sahid Hussain Chowdhury is the publisher. Syeed Hossain Chowdhury is now the Chairman of the Board of Editors.
Jaijaidin has introduced in Bangladesh celebration of Valentine's Day (as Bishsho Valobasha Dibosh or World Love Day) on 14 February. Apart from that, Jaijaidin was the first Bangladeshi news publication to have its own website. Another key achievement of Jaijaidin is that it introduced Reader’s Poll for the first time in Bangladesh. Jaijaidin first implemented the idea of Reader's Poll to elect the most popular performing artists.
The Daily Jaijaidin publishes news mainly focused on Bangladesh. It also features International news.
