The Government eliminates all tariffs on imports of dengue sample kits

The govt has abolished all import tariffs on dengue sample devices and reagents to relieve dengue fever detection and therapy in the midst of a huge fever epidemic across Bangladesh.

"All duty, value-added tax, advance tax and income tax on import of dengue test kits, reagents, and blood platelet plasma test kits have been removed," the National Revenue Board (NBR) said on Monday, reporting All Bangla Newspaper and BSS in a statutory regulatory agreement (SRO).

The public command remains in effect until 31 October.

The SRO was released at a moment when a shortage of dengue fever diagnostic devices struck the economies with some Dhaka clinics moving back alleged clients without screening them.

NBR member Sultan Mohammad Iqbal said the choice was made to raise assistance from the government to provide low-cost medical treatment to individuals.

"The tax-free offer will only be applicable for importing the test kits on the basis of the approval of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA)," he explained.

Iqbal said that DGDA will also frequently monitor the performance of the products delivered into the nation.
