Indictment of Suicide of Injured Worker of Rana Plaza

One worker, who was injured at Rana Plaza accident last year, has committed suicide for being unable to tolerate physical pain; police and neighbors are suspecting.

On Friday, the corpse of this female worker named Salma was rescued from Bammer Tek which is in front of Turag Thana of the capital.

A police officer of Turag Thana, Kamal Hossain said, ‘Salma lived in a house in Bammer Tek with her husband. The previous night they went to sleep at around 12 a.m. after dinner.’

Kamal Hossain said, ‘at dawn, husband began to find his wife as he did not see her getting up from sleep. Then he saw his wife’s corpse in the adjacent lobby of their room. Then the neighbors came hearing his screaming and informed the police. We got the corpse down and sent her to the hospital for an autopsy.’

Police are saying that Salma worked in a factory on the sixth floor of Rana Plaza. Salam was rescued after five or six days of the accident from the building. The building’s rod went into her body and bones were broken in a few places of her body.

According to neighbors, she has not recovered fully from injury and for that, she had frequently suffered from severe physical suffering, and so she could commit suicide is suspected.

After being injured, this woman was in the hospital for several months, and since the last half a month she began to live with her husband.

Mother of one child, Salma has already started working in a new factory in this area, but she did not go to the service regularly.

Mohammed Yunus, a neighbor of Salma told that he had talked with Salma previous night, but he had often seen her suffer from physical troubles.

Mohammad Yunus says that Salma often got headaches. Salma also told him that her headaches started by any sound. Besides, she also said several times about the pain of her body. Once she became seriously ill then she was recovered by the neighbors with water flow. There was kept drugs for a whole year in her room.

Police said that Salma had got sixty thousand taka as a compensation for the landslides at Rana Plaza.

Initially, an unnatural death has been filed in the local police station. But the police are investigating if any other cause of death is here or not.
